We organized a classroom survey about celebrating professional holidays in our families. It appeared that the most popular is Navy Day. All 13 students of the group celebrate it because everyone in our town likes this holiday.
Then comes the Day of Medical Service. It is celebrated in 4 families.
4 students celebrate Teachers’ Day not only at school but at home too, because there are teachers in their families.
Among other holidays celebrated in the families of our students are:
Builders’ Day -3 students
Sailors’ Day- 2 students
Book-keepers’ Day-1 person
Cosmonauts’ Day-1 student.
I think this student is going to become a cosmonaut or is very interested in it.

NAVY DAY
Every summer in Sevastopol we can see two big holiday celebrations. They are the Navy Day of Ukraine on the 1-st of July and the Day of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia on the last Sunday of July. It is because my native town Sevastopol is the base of the Ukrainian Navy and the Russian Black Sea Fleet. These two fleets peacefully live and cooperate on the Black Sea in Ukraine.
In my family we celebrate these holidays because my father is a navy officer and a lot of his friends serve in Russian Fleet.
On these days we have wonderful performances. On the sea there is always a sea parade of navy battleships. A lot of military men are in full dress. In the evening we have a big concert with well-known Ukrainian and Russian stars in the central square of our town. All people dance and sing songs too.
At the end of these holidays we can see one of the most beautiful shows of the year –fantastic fireworks from military ships above the sea.
I like these holidays very much. Are there any similar holidays in your country?

The Bookkeeper’s Day.
My mother is a book-keeper, so the 16-th of July is a holiday for us, because it’s the Book-keeper’s Day in Ukraine. Usually she receives greeting in her office on that day. Book-keeper is a very important profession as well as any other. There are always some phone calls from her friends too. They all congratulate her. We have a family dinner on that day, mother cooks it herself. I always try to help her. At the dinner table we usually discuss our family life and then watch some films. We have a good time and are always in a good mood.

The Day of Transport Workers.
In our family we celebrate the Day of Transport workers or as we call it Drivers’ Day. It is in October. My father is an experienced driver and we are proud of him.
On that day before father comes home, my mother and I usually cook something delicious for the festive dinner. Father returns home from work with a big cake, I give him a present and we sit down to the table. Some time later I leave them talking together. They enjoy talking with each other.
I like that we celebrate father’s professional holiday in this way.
